Venerated psychiatrist Theodore Henderson, MD, PhD, presented information on a new patent-pending treatment which has shown significant success with patients troubled with depression and other symptoms linked to Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) at the 37th Annual Fall Institute for Clinical Specialists in Psychiatric Nursing last week at The Village Hotel in Breckenridge, Colorado.

Dr. Henderson, co-Founder of the non-profit Neuro-Laser Foundation, recently conducted and published new science that indicates TBI symptoms such as depression, can be relieved and even eliminated. The study monitored the specialized application of high-powered, near-infrared light therapy (NILT), revealing brain damage can be rehabilitated. The resulting behaviors were nothing short of amazing, according to Dr. Henderson.

“Patients from the study have seen their depression disappear, and they are able to return to work, repair relationships and overall enjoy a better quality of life,” said Dr. Henderson who co-authored the studies with Dr. Larry Morries, also co-Founder of Neuro-Laser Foundation.

The audience comprised of psychiatric nurse practitioners in Colorado. Dr. Henderson said they echoed the problem patients and practitioners face.

“Nobody realizes it’s possible to repair brain damage from TBI because the consensus is that nothing really works for TBI,” Dr. Henderson said. “They also told me they didn’t know TBI was so common, and PTSD had such a large overlap of symptoms.”

One challenge is the high demand for TBI treatment, and need for further research. Therefore, the Neuro-Laser Foundation has introduced the GoFundMe.com/SayGoodByeTBI campaign to raise money and awareness.
